Why We Gather

Nature Feels Different When Families Share It.

Kids in the Wild is a group for families who want children to know the smell of rain on leaves, the patience of a trail, and the rhythm of a day spent outside.

We are based in Central Ohio and make room for the kind of outdoor time that is easier to do together: walking wooded paths, following riverbanks, learning camp skills, and making the outdoors feel normal, familiar, and welcoming.

What Matters To Us

  • Families growing comfortable in real outdoor spaces
  • Kids building independence and confidence in nature
  • Traditions that feel grounded, simple, and worth repeating

Annual Tradition

One Big Campout, Built For Families.

Since 2014, we have organized a shared camping trip where families can settle in for a fuller outdoor weekend. The goal is not to make camping feel intimidating. The goal is to make it feel possible.

The trip is designed around kids, first-timers, and the kind of practical support that helps everyone enjoy being outside: nearby friends, shared meals, room to explore, and just enough structure to make the weekend feel smooth.

What The Weekend Includes

Camping, campfire time, easy outdoor exploration, and the slower pace that lets families settle into being outside together.

Who It Is For

Families from the group, including children who are still learning what a tent, trail, and sleeping bag can become.

Why It Lasts

The campout gives the year a center point: one memorable trip that children can look forward to and remember clearly.
